2009 Innaugural Major Snowstorm

I’ll admit this blog has been a bit of a wasteland lately and only home to funny pictures every so often as well as the weekly Moore Liquor sign.  Finally I have a little weather to talk about and while it’s the somewhat boring topic of snow, it’s still of interest because it is the first decent event of the season and it appears it will be a major one.  Some are saying records will be broken; I’m not so sure about that.  Time will tell.
Anyway, I snagged a couple images and posted below.  Both of these were created today (12/7) so keep that in mind for baseline because I’ll probably revisit them in future posts.
The first is the NAM for this afternoon:

18z NAM (Total Accumulated Snowfall at 48hrs)

18z NAM (Total Accumulated Snowfall at 48hrs)

Next is the NAM run from tonight:

00z NAM (Total Accumulated Snowfall at 48hrs)

00z NAM (Total Accumulated Snowfall at 48hrs)

As the system gets closer the NAM and GFS have come together nicely and are in relatively good agreement so I didn’t pull down GFS for this post.  I look forward to the event’s end so I can compare actual totals and see how the models did.  Yeah, I know I’m basic but it’s fun to see how they did; call me weird.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that we expect 8-10 streams to be live on the ChaserTV service tomorrow thru Wed afternoon.  Please tune in!
We will be updating the twitter at /chasertv and the media website: ChaserTVMedia.com
